    Re: Layer Cakes?

I see no one has replied to you yet. Have you found out what a layer cake is?  It's a 10 inch square of fabric and you get at least one square of each print in the fabric line.  I have a layer cake of Oh My Dog and there are 40 10 inch squares in the layer cake.  There are quite a few books and patterns that use layer cakes.  One helpful site is www.fatquartershop.com and a pattern company that makes a few patterns is the Me & My Sister design company.  I have a short story...I started quilting and I was really into fat quarters my friends nicknamed me the "Fat Quarter Queen"....I couldn't believe all the designs possible using a FQ.  Then I saw Jelly Rolls and joined a Strip Club on a site called Stitch-n-Frame, they are out of Mississippi.  I love Jelly Rolls because the strips are already cut 2 1/2 inches by with of fabric and the designs are endless.  Then I saw Layer Cakes and now my problem is deciding if I want fat quarters, jelly rolls or layer cakes?  If you ever want to search more websites for sales and pattern ideas and quilt stuff the fabshophop is a good way because they list over 170 quilt shops.  Good luck!

    Re: Layer Cakes?

Thank you so much. I was about to ask what a layer cake was, I sort of figured from the photos that theywere roughly 10" squares, but it is really good to know exactly what they are, as we don't have them in Australia, as far as I can gather. Being new to quilting ( 2 years)I am totally addicted. I can't stop buying fabric, HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I love jelly rolls and charm squares, Thanks once again for answering my unasked question

    Cheers Corinne
